One Serious Song

Created some time ago for the Stormrider project. I've tried to put in some '70 police-series feel into it, since the subject of the lyrics could have been derived from a '70-s police series episode plot. The vocals were deliberately mixed to background with a lot of reverb added to them because this is designed to be played REAL LOUD! (so you can actually hear what's being said, and be blasted away by the instrumental bits in the process!)

I've not been making music for very long, only like a few weeks or something, and my equiptment is absolute crap. I've recorded 4 songs, this is my most recent one. Umm...I don't really know what to say really, the song kinda says it all (if you can actually get what the lyrics are...stupid damn microphone)
Please don't critasise to harshly, I am very ammateur! (is that even how you spell that word...?)

A Space In Time

Another one-day, software-distortion effort with crappy fruityloops drums, I was going to wait until I get my studio shiat together before I uploaded anything else here but I had fun making this so I thought I'd upload it for the next battle.

It's essentially just over three minutes of me improvising rock soloing over a backing track that I made. The intro (aside from the basis of the finger-tapping) is the only part of the lead that was planned before I started recording. There is four guitars in total, plus the bass (that was also played on my electric guitar). I did the lead in one take again so there will be the odd mistake.

I hope you like it, its mostly just experimentation with a few different melodies/harmonies. Nothing too flash on the guitar, aside from some faster soloing bits, some finger tapping later on, and my favourite bit is at 3m 03 where I did some kind of artifical harmonic and whammied it :)

Oh, and I know the drums are shite. And the guitar slipped out of tune a little for the harmonics during the finger-tapping bit so they sound a little ugly - but I cant be bothered to rerecord because I will be redoing it when I get my equipment sorted anyways. I also need a new guitar!

Please give me any feedback you can!

Peace :)

Dark Room

This is a re-recording of a song I wrote in '95. It was inspired by the feelings I got while developing a picture of a mysteriously beautiful girl I snapshot at some dodgy underground party, of which I had otherwise only minor recollection.

For this version, recorded many years later, I had to recall the right sentiment but ofcourse it had blurred somewhat over time (hence the lo-fi effects experiment).

The end bit of the lyrics (being utterly drowned by the instrumental noise) reads:

"reach in, reach deeper, and destroy...

reach out and destroy"

it stands for: however nice the picture turned out to be, it had very little to do with the actual girl you went after. trying to pursue a dream, you might find yourself running for a cold shower...

This is probably the dreariest song I ever wrote. Except for "So Happy" but I'm not bloody likely to upload THAT anywhere!

Groupie

Let the good times roll...

Created for the Stormrider project, during the heyday of my "Rock Star" carreer. The live version had a very fast solo in it, but I couldn't find a copy audible enough to post here.

This is all in the name of good fun. :D

It was supposed to sound sorta ska-ish but I don't have an electric guitar and even if I did I probably wouldn't be able to play it...

Evergreen

Finally! It works! this is quite seriously my 6th attempt at getting this song to load and play. Well done Chester. Well done.

Yes, so this is an old song... but has always held sentimental value with me :)

Check out my other stuff, I load another 2 songs today. A piano one, and then half a song... because i lost the other half... long story.

Seems a lot of people are adding lyrics. So I thought I'd put mine on a couple of songs :)

VERSE 1

So you’ve run away again?
And left nothing in your place.
Except a shadow and a sin,
Etched forever in your space.

PRECHORUS:

Than she turns to you and smiles,
At where you’ve been.
And says life ain’t,
Evergreen.

CHORUS:

Come fall down,
Get blown around.
You’re a leaf up in the air,
And it’s the autumn of your year.

VERSE 2

Well time is coming round the bend,
It seems you try too hard to smile.
And it’s only near the end,
That you find your inner child.

PRECHORUS:
It’s always,
Inbetween.
That you find life ain’t,
Evergreen.

CHORUS:

Come fall down,
Get blown around.
You’re a leaf up in the air,
And it’s the autumn of your year. X2

OUTRO:

You’re a leaf up in the air,
And it’s the autumn of your year.
Your year.

Prayers of Omen

I like to live life out loud. This song is an example of how loud and intense I like to experience some of life's things, ... I'm really interested how this song affects you as a listener, and what you think of it. If you can find the time, please let me know.

reminder: this is long, long version! (extended, not the "short / radio" edit!)

The Passing

This is a song of mourning. Created in my "gothic heyday" a couple of years back. I've tried to put in extra dreariness with the out-of-tune vocals... I may not be that much of a singer but I did this on purpose. I'm curious if this works for anyone - and what you think of the song, as a whole.

Yearbook

I came up with this in about half an hour, you can probably tell. I've used up my encoding limit on Acid Xpress so I probably wont be doing any music for a while...unless anyone can sugest any decent free software I can download?? I have no money at all. If I did I'd go out and buy some.
Anywho, tell me what you think of this
Thanks
x
By the way, the funny noise after 'We live, We learn, We grow,' was the phone ringing...haha

Mainstream Freak

This is the first ever song I recorded. Thats why it sounds so bad. I hadn't figured out how to use my audio software properly. My voice sounds terrible on this. I did it in one take and didn't change it. I may re-record this song again if I can find the original file. Anywhoo, tell me what you think.

"Rolling With The Punches."
I'm gonna add another section and more parts when I can be bothered.
I know theres not really much to it, as with all my other songs, and they all sound the same in my opinion but hopefully I'll be on a college course next year, teaching me how to write songs!
Tell me what you think!

Merci!
